What is MondoPoint and how to measure it?

What is MondoPoint and how to measure it?

Mondo Point was developed back in seventies by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to create a universal shoe size system ("mondo" meaning "world"). Even though traditional sizing scales are still more popular, manufacturers of quality shoes, skates, rollerskates, liners and ski boots provide this measurement as point of reference.

Mondo Point is calculated by measuring the length and width of the foot in millimeters. The term reffered to ski boots fit has been simplified down to foot length, from the heel to the big toe. That's it!

Thanks to it you won't have any problems with conversion of UK, USA and EU sizing as long as manufacturer will provide mondo point lenght as point of reference. We urge you to choose skates based on Mondo Point as it will allow you to find best fit much easier than regular sizing tables.

How to find your mondopoint size?

It's easy!

Place A4 sheet or big enough piece of paper in a way that makes its' edge touching the wall. Then, stand on it with heel touching the wall and shift all of your weight to the measured foot. Draw a line on the big toe. Measure (in centimeters) length of the paper from edge to the line and voilà! This is your Mondopoint size.

If you have angled baseboards at home, this may impact precision of measurement. You can use an element of furniture then, or simply try to find any "clean" 90 degree angle between the floor and wall nearby.

We recommend measuring both feet and use the longer one when choosing skates by Mondo Point.

What else? Well, if you know your mondopoint size already, go ahead and order a pair of skates (or rollerskates)!
