Iqon TR 10 - Boot Only Inline Skates

There’s a very good way to describe what IQON TR10 are in just 5 words: Powerslide Hardcore Evo on steroids.

There’s not even a shadow of exaggeration here, considering that IQON brand has been created by the same man who is also owner of Powerslide – Matthias Knoll. Both brands use the same technology base in general, but while Powerslide is mainstream offering with carefully and rationally balanced price point in relation to quality, IQON is more like “Why hold ourselves back? Boot is based on handmade carbon shell, this time reinforced with Kevlar. It can be heat-molded to your liking. Everyone who ever handled anything made out of carbon fibre knows that it is exceptionally light and rigid material. In fact, size EU41 TR10 boots weight only 700g. Super rigid shell means great energy transfer and control over skates – you simply cannot top carbon based boot in these areas. Both effects are greatly enhanced by Trinity mounting, which makes the frame and boot connection more rigid and solid by using three contact points instead of two. Of course, TR10 boot is compatible with all Trinity frames – one made by IQON, Powerslide and even smaller brands such as Endless.

Padding is made of high quality heat-moldable foams, shaped anatomically and covered in microfibre material. The outer skin of the skate is made out of ballistic nylon reinforced with PU welds. There are two separate lacing options here – lower part of the boot is tightened using ATOP disc, which tightens a steel thread to wrap the skate around your foot. Cuff area have classic eyelets, so you can adjust level of ankle freedom without impacting how lower part of the foot is secured.

Another thing being an obvious upgrade over Hardcore Evo is outer cuff made of carbon and Kevlar. This technology has never been used in Powerslide skates and could be found only in the most expensive slalom skates made by Seba (later on, FR Skates) and Micro. Ultra rigid material makes this cuff extremely supportive, giving you a competitive advantage in freestyle slalom, downhill or inline alpine. Benefits are clear in case of freeskating, too! It also makes skate lighter.
