Razors Cult Shima 3.1 Limited Edition Boot Only for aggressive inline skating
The Razors Cult Shima 3.1 Limited Edition Boot Only skates are another nod to older fans of the skate brand from sunny California. A reissue of one of Brian Shima's most popular signature models with a distinctive soft lacing system, giving the skates the look of common sneakers. Razors continues the idea from the last season, bringing back the tried-and-tested gear, but comparing the Razors Shima 3.1 LE to the first refreshed version from 2022, there are quite a few improvements.
The Shima 3.1 LE skates are all about versatility and the comfort that Razors products are recognizable for. Based on the compact Razors Cult shell, made of flexible material, which, combined with soft lacing system, will provide a perfect fit for both wider and narrower feet. Although the featured Reign v.3 liner is not as high and thick as the one known from the original version, its properties in line with current standards place it alongside competitive high-end products. Independent lacing for better ankle support, a strong carrying handle and a neoprene toe finish are still the biggest advantages of the Reign liners. In terms of visual appeal, the use of the original Reign logo is also a nice touch.
Features of Razors Cult Shima 3.1 Limited Edition Boot Only for aggressive inline skating
- Frame mount: UFS
- Liner: Shima Reign V.3 with independent lacing system
- Ergonomic shape - increased space in toe area
- Wide backslide plate - this significantly helps to shape the individual "groove" in the best place for the user
- Soulplate of considerable size - the soulplate has special notches/holes along its entire length. They reduce friction and noticeably improve glide, especially when filled with wax.
Razors Cult Shima 3.1 Limited Edition Boot Only for aggressive inline skating - worth knowing!
A huge benefit of the Razors Shima 3.1 inline skates is their modular design and thus the considerable availability of spare parts in many colours. At the beginning of the decade, it was the Razors skate models offering the easy option of replacing individual components that started the craze for creating their unique setups, and the situation continues to this day. The components most prone to wear and tear such as the impressively sized soul plate or the independent backslide plate can be replaced at any time, significantly extending the skate overall lifespan.
The Razors Shima 3.1 skate is a soft, low centre of gravity skate based on a classic design that, despite having been on the market over 20 years is still enduringly popular. By choosing this particular model, you are paying homage to a legend of our sport and supporting a brand that has had a huge impact on the development of the aggressive inline phenomenon worldwide.
The Boot Only variant is a great option for users who intend to customise the 'chassis' according to their own preferences. Thanks to its compatibility with the UFS mounting standard, we get quite a few options for frames for aggressive riding of any kind.
About manufacturer
Razors is one of the most important aggressive skating company in history. It is mostly known as a company from sunny California, however, its roots are in Europe, Germany. The company was founded by Andy Wegner, who started a windsurfing goods distribution business in 1982. Soon he started to make various parts and equipment for this sport, under Sunshine brand. This company exists to this day and handles distribution of Razors and Remz skates as well as Jug liners and Ground Control frames. The first time Andy has seen the inline skates was back in 1989 during a business visit in San Diego.
Andy has soon realised that most of skating boots were made in Europe, his home turf. Furthermore, frames were available on open market in Taiwan. He already had business relationship with wheel maker, Kryptonics. He started working on a new project and several months later he showed the world his first skate design at ISPO tradeshows in Munich. It is worth to note that Sunshine was the first company ever to display a skate there. As the inline skate market has grown rapidly and soon started to be crowded, Andy decided to go for niche where he had the best chance of success – aggressive skating. He soon released his first aggressive skate, the Razors Impact. But what about the sunny California? Well, he moved with his business there in 1999, when Razors was already one of the most important brands in the industry.
The history of Razors is tied to their riders. They made a huge impact on product development – the skates were created to fit their needs best. For example, an unique SL boot concept (soulframe being a replaceable bottom of the boot) has been invented becasue skaters wanted the best possible feedback on grinds. During all these years, Razors have never released a skate one can consider bad. Every single model, from earliest Cults to most recent Shifts, are super solid skates and have sworn fans.
