Product details
Rollerblade Zetrablade skates are one of the best engineered rec/beginner skates money can buy. Thanks to the same high-grade materials as found in more expensive models of the brand, these skates are outpacing competition and offer superb price to quality ratio package.
Zetrablades are typical softboots – meaning that they have a relatively soft, breathable and lightweight boot placed on stable composite base with rigid external cuff, giving the ankle a good level of support. Even though the cuff itself is fairly minimalistic, it is rigid and high enough to prevent pronation and supination. It is open at the front, allowing you to get lower on your knees while skating. A strong, plastic buckle on top provides a secure closure.
If you look for an upgrade over regular Zetrablade skates, the Elite version is for you. It comes with higher quality outer material and finish known from Macroblade series of skates and quickl lacing system with lock.
Zetrablade Elite W are the same skates as regular Zetrablade Elite, with only cosmetic differences. The model targeted at women is made in sizes up to EU42.5, however. If you need a bigger size, we recommend going for regular ones, as fit is the same. It goes both ways – if any male skater prefers the W colourway and wears size up to EU42.5, they can safely skate it.
The soft part of the boot is modelled after high quality training sneakers not only when it comes to looks, but also in terms of fit and materials. The outer mesh fabric does excellent job at letting air in and moisture out. Beneath outer layer you’ll find a comfortable, anatomically shaped Performance padding. Furthermore, inner lining material is abrasion-resistant to last longer. A quick lacing system with lock allows you to easily tighten the boot. Final touch is the Velcro strap to lock you heel in place.
Zetrablades Elite have composite frame which is actually a single piece with the rest of the skate outer skeleton. Such concept is sometimes called “unibody”. There are several benefits to this approach: skates are lighter, come with less parts needing attention and have great, direct energy transfer. The frame itself is rigid enough for rec or light fitness skating. Its length gives a solid base for push and much needed stability. Furthermore – the setup height is as low as possible to make skates easy to control.
Maximum wheel size is 80 mm and skate comes with such ones stock. The 4x80 setup is superb to learn how to skate on, and there’s plenty of headroom to go faster once you’ll learn the basics. Wheels have 82A hardness and are intended to give a smooth, comfy roll with moderate speed – if you want to go faster, you can always swap them for harder ones. SG5 bearings are excellent choice for fitness skating.
The skates come with a brake attached on a right boot. The shorter axle comes in the box if you want to take the brake off.
Zetrablade Elite are excellent choice for rec and light fitness skating as well as to learn how to skate on. If you are willing to pay a bit extra over basic version, the quality of life improvements such as more breathable mesh material and easy to use quicklacing system are totally worth it.
About manufacturer
Rollerblade is one of the most iconic brands in the inline skating world, known for popularizing inline skates in the 1980s and 1990s. The brand was founded in 1980 by two hockey-playing brothers, Scott and Brennan Olson, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They initially created inline skates as a way to train for ice hockey during the off-season. Their design featured a line of wheels in a single frame, allowing for smoother movement and greater maneuverability. As Rollerblade's popularity grew, it sparked a global inline skating boom in the 1990s, becoming synonymous with the sport itself.
Throughout the years, Rollerblade has been at the forefront of inline skating innovation. In the 1990s, the brand introduced various advancements, such as the brake system for safer stopping, adjustable frames, and high-performance wheels. They developed a wide range of skates catering to different styles, including fitness, urban, aggressive, and speed skating. Rollerblade was instrumental in introducing many to the sport, providing high-quality skates for beginners and pros alike, which solidified its status in the skating community.
