Seba E3 freeskates

Seba E3 freeskates

Seba E3 hit the market back in 2020 – a budget freestkate offering, created to fill the void in brand's catalogue after departure of FR skates line (which are now made under FR Skates brand).

For those, who rather have short version: Seba E3 are not intended as replacement of a whole, extensive range of FR models, but rather most afforadble of them – FRX and FRXP. Thus, E3 are intended for:

-Beginners in freeskating who do not want to spend a lot of money on a first pair of the skates.

-Those who have limited budget but want a solid pair of skates from reliable brand.

-Skaters seeking an affordable hardboot alternative to fitness softboots.

-Skaters looking for a lowest possible entry cost in to freestyle slalom.

The last point is no mistake – Seba E3 are one of the most affordable skates equipped with supportive hardboot and rocker-able frame. The X2R frame comes with outer axles offering a choice between flat setup and “banana” rocker, meaning there’s no need to buy four, 4 mm smaller wheels. You can take the skates out of the box, adjust the axles and go skating between the cones.

The Seba E3 skates are an excellent choice for beginners or those on a budget who are looking for quality entry-level gear.

Despite their affordable price, these skates offer outstanding performance that is hard to find in other similarly priced options. The shell of the E3 skates is completely new design and features a multitude of ventilation holes, which is a unique feature in today's freeskates market.

The shell is made of rigid and thick plastic, ensuring a secure connection between the frame and boot. There are no metal plates embedded in frame mounting points, but FRX and FRXP do not sport them either – fair enough.

Seba has included a "wheel well" next to the front mounting point, increasing compatibility with triskating frames, allowing front wheel to spin freely.

The liner of the skates is comfortable and has a lacing option in the upper part, which is beneficial for those who prefer to skate with loosely buckled cuffs. The lacing prevents the tongue from shifting and rubbing against the leg, while also helping to secure the heel in place. For the best results, it is recommended to use a second pair of shorter laces to separately lace the liners from the shell.

One must note that regular E3 have more simplistic liner, without a thin rubber sole. The insole is also very basic. E3 Premium models get improved liner, with rubber sole. New version of the skates, E3 80 Premium Blueberry and version for kids, E3 Junior Red, both received an upgraded lining made out of nicer material. It does better job at absorbing moisture and makes skates easier to put on.

Seba E3 Premium 80 Blueberry

The E3 80 skates (premium or not) come with X2R frames measuring 243 mm and fitting four 80 mm wheels. E3 Junior also have X2R model, although a shorter, 231 mm version made for 4x76 mm setup.

These frames feature a rockering system that allows the outer wheels to be raised by 2mm compared to the middle ones. This enables a "banana" rocker setup without the need to purchase additional smaller wheels. This makes the E3 skates ideal entry point for freestyle slalom, as they are almost ready for cones straight out of the box, requiring just a few minutes with an Allen key to adjust the wheels.

Seba E3 X2 Rocker

Seeing that price of FRX skates went notably up and FRXP do not have frames with rockering option, if you want an affordable option for freestyle slalom practice which you can take for a spin (almost) out of the box, E3 are the best pick.

Urban skaters shouldn’t complain either. You can use this frame as a flat setup, but raising just a front wheel is also a viable option. This offers easier turns while maintaining stability and can work well if you want to practice some “wizard” moves.

The E3 110 Premium model features a 3x110 frame that is similar to the one used in FR Skates FRX and FR3 310. Although it is a different shape, the frame' length is the same at 232mm with similar overall height.

The shorter frame length is ideal for freestyle moves on three big wheels and provides a fast and incredibly maneuverable experience. While individuals accustomed to longer frames may need some time to adjust, there’s a lot of fun to have here!

Seba E3 110

The Seba E3 skates have truly made a mark in freeskating market, emerging as a standout choice for those seeking affordable hardboot skates. Don't let the price tag fool you—these skates deliver in more ways than one, as long as you're willing to accept few compromises.

Rest assured, the Seba E3 skates are more than just "okay." While it's important to consider their context and limitations, the value here is exceptional and we highly recommend them.

With arrival of new, Blueberry model, we now have below skates available:

Seba E3 80 Black – the basic model. These skates are made to offer good skating experience at low cost. And for the asking price, you cannot really complain: you get a rigid shell, a solid X2R frame, simple but working liner (nice bonus of lacing in upper part) and 82A hardness, 80 mm wheels. The  closure consists of plastic buckle on cuff, 45 degree Velcro strap and laces.

Seba E3 Premium 80 Black these are improved in five areas compared to basic model. The Velcro strap is gone and replaced with a buckle, allowing you to tighten the boot more efficiently. Laces are also of better quality, so it is easier to securely tighten the boot. Liner have rubberised, reinforced sole and better insole. Final upgrade are a bit better bearings.

Seba E3 Premium 80 Blueberry - new addition to the line-up, introduced in season 2023. It comes with everything Black version does, but have new, upgraded buckle (very similar to ones used in FR skates) and better lining material for increased comfort. It also does have cuff attached by screws and top buckle with metal lever. Overall, a nice step-up and worth of slightly higher asking price. Colour is great, too!

Seba E3 Premium 110 Black - the only triskate in E3 range, it comes with a boot identical to 80 version. Short, 3 wheels frame with pretty decent 110 mm Street Kings wheels make for a fast and agile urban skating setup. Short frames may not be everyone's cup of tea, but skate is still a great deal for the asking price.

Seba E3 J Black – junior model, created for older kids and teenagers. To put it simply, these are basic Seba E3 80 skates coming with shorter, 231 mm frame taking up to 76 mm wheels and three replaceable insoles used to adjust the size. The quality of a shell, liner and wheels are the same as in other models, so these can also be considered as an alternative for adult skaters with smaller feet who want a shorter frame. There are two sizes available: EU35-37 and EU37-39 (smaller and larger shell).

Seba E3 J Red - 2023 version and imprevement over Black one. The liner have nicer finish and furthermore, the sizing adjustment has been slightly upgraded. The shell now have a foam insert at the front, which is glued in place inside of the shell. This allows for tighter fit for smallest foot size for given shell and as kid's feet grow, it is easy to detach the insert, making more space inside.

Seba E3 Junior Red

To sum it up – the intention was to deliver a cheap and reliable freeskates and that goal has been achieved. Line of E3 skates is steadily growing and while the very first models were a bit rough around the edges, the current iterations are excellent velue freeskates.
