Inline skates, the thing we love the most! Bladeville has been founded by skaters, for skaters and out of our absolute devotion to the sport. It is not a secret, but also not a common knowledge, that inline skates are around for far longer than rollerskates (quad skates). The first known report of devices attached to boots, with wheels in straight line, date back to year 1760. As it is often the case with brilliant inventions, the inline skates were way ahead of their times and available technology. Thus, it took over two centuries for first modern inline skates to appear on the market. American company Rollerblade (now with HQ in Italy) has introduced their skates in 1987 and it was a turning point in the history of this sport. Furthermore, seeing that Rollerblade were not running their own production lines back then yet, during their first years, skates were made by Roces – another legendary company.

Inline skates were originally intended by and for hockey players for off-season training, but rapidly evolved in to an entirely new sport and spawned many different styles. The most widespread is of course recreational skating and most people have at least seen inline skaters cruising along the lanes of a local park. Fitness skating is more workout-oriented variety: not only it is a great aerobic training, it also puts much less strain on your joints than running. If you still want more speed, speedskates will allow you to race against others or the clock on tracks and during marathons.

Maybe the simple act of skating forward, no matter how fast, seems boring to you? Worry not, there are plenty of different styles to satisfy your tastes. Aggressive skating, also called street skating, is one of the oldest branches of rollerblading and quickly overtook cities and skateparks in the 90’s. The skates are strong built and made to allow grinding on obstacles, but as a trade-off have small wheels. If you don’t find that fun, you can grab a pair of freeskates, which will allow you to explore urban environment and do some light tricks in the meantime. Want something with more finesse? How about freestyle skates for cone slalom, a sport halfway between figurine skating and dance.

This is a tip of the iceberg, really. There are much more inline skating varieties: inline alpine, figurine inline skating, off-road, downhill… the possibilities are as rich as your imagination. There are even people who skate with kite!

We are perfectly aware here at Bladeville how important reliable skates are when it comes to having fun and satisfaction from skating, not to mention making any progress with your skill. This is why we carefully select the skates available in our shop, to ensure that they are reliable and their level of quality is adequate. Here at Bladeville we have a simple rule: only good skates.
