Them skates business model, smartly based on successful collaborations (with such respected brands like Braindead or Clarks footwear), helped tremendously with raising the interest in rollerblading among completely new audience. Unquestionable success in the global promotion of inline skates prompted the brand to expand its offer with products aimed not only at the aggressive segment, but also at the accessible gear for fast urban skating and fitness enthusiasts.
Fitting the maximum size of 80 mm wheel, Them skates recreational frame can be a great entry level equipment for anyone who has just started their venture with inline skating. Very light, offering the golden mean between optimal speed and a relatively low centre of gravity. Shorts frames are also very agile, making a setup with Them 80 frame set quite friendly even for complete beginners.
Compatible with every model of Them 909 skates, the Them 80 frame set is a one piece combination of slimmed soul plate and integrated frame. Thanks to proven bridge hardware mounting system, changing your current aggressive setup into a good quality urban skate for improved rolling experience is really a breeze. Great solution for people who want to try skating bigger wheels without having to choose a new shell model.
Custom-made steel axles, with asymmetric head, requiring only one tool to tighten or loosen. They will greatly speed up wheel replacement if necessary, but the complete set can be mounted to the shell without removing the wheels! Especially helpful for those who constantly change their setups depending on the situation.
Them 80 frame set comes equipped with exclusive Brain Dead 80 mm wheel of 90 a hardness and a full profile for improved stability. Braindead wheels have a distinctively smaller core, in favour of more urethane, which will significantly prolonging its life span.
Them 80 frame set does not include the mounting hardware, used to connect it to the shell. We recommend using the current screw set from your Them 909 skates or ultimately getting a brand new Them Bridge Hardware set sold separately.
Them 80 frame set is not recommended for grinding.
About manufacturer
Them Skates is a brand created by aggressive inline skating legend, Jon Julio. He is the mastermind behind the marketing and team management of (now shelved) Valo brand which he ran for Roces. After over 15 years, Valo came to an end and he and Italian brand parted ways. Seeing that he basically lost a job that he dedicated his whole adult life to, Jon was at the crossroads. Led by responsibility towards his family, he almost took post office job. However, it was not meant to be – following his love for skating, he decided to have one last shot at creating a skating company, seeing that the he already has been involved in Themgoods (a softgoods company) and Youth frames projects, which were more of a side-jobs for him. Them Skates were born.
Even though the first product – Them 908 model – was nothing revolutionary: used old Sabotage molds (with a new soulplate, but still), had very basic liner and was available as boot only without an option for complete setup, it sold like a hotcakes. This success is thanks to Jon’s loyal fans and supporters from all over the world, a community that had his back and wanted him in the skating. The popularity of Them Skates allowed Jon to expand rapidly – within a time frame of just one year, he developed his proprietary boot mold in cooperation with Kyle Sola, one of the most prominent industrial designers in skating. The 909, as it is called, is notable for being the first boot mold created and fully owned by a company run solely by aggressive inline skaters. Soon, the company created their own frames. Nowadays, one of the most talented and influential skaters are associated with Them Skates and many more chose to ride their boots for what they represent for aggressive skating community as a whole.
