Wizard Base High — Specialized freeskate/flow inline skates
Designed in collaboration with FR Skates and Intuition Liners, the specialized inline skates are intended for the rapidly developing Wizard skating — a new style of inline skating that draws extensively from urban skating, aggressive, freestyle slalom, and even freestyle skiing or BMX flatland.
The Wizard Base/Wizard Base High inline skates feature a new shell and cuff made of carbon fiber, providing excellent responsiveness and support. Equipped with specially prepared Intuition 3M liners for this occasion. Pre-molded to 12 individual shell sizes, ensuring easier fitting for a wider range of users.
Features of the Wizard Base High skates in Boot Only version
- FR x Wizard carbon High Top shell with UFS mounting — provides better stiffness of the boot, which translates into better energy transfer from the legs to the wheels. Despite its lightness, carbon is also an extremely durable material. Shells made of carbon are resistant to impacts and scratches, which is crucial during intense freeskate sessions.
- Carbon cuff — The stiffness of the carbon cuff contributes to greater foot stability in the boot, which is key for maintaining control and precision of movements.
- Intuition x Wizard 3M High Top liner — dedicated liner available exclusively with Wizard Base High models. Low-volume foam, reinforced tongue, integrated Powerwrap.
- Reflective 3M material of the liner — effectively reflects light, making the skater more visible at night or in low light.
- Upper buckles replaced by a pair of strong Velcro straps - A lower Velcro strap mounted on the cuff with screws and a higher Velcro strap permanently sewn to the extended collar of the cuff extension. Velcro allows for more precise adjustment of the fastening force, which can translate into greater comfort. They evenly distribute pressure on the foot, avoiding excessive pressure points.
- 45° angle buckle — equipped with a “pump” which allows for precise adjustment of the strap tension, thereby providing better foot retention.
- 12 individual sizes (36-47EU)
Wizard Base High Black - Boot Only — for whom?
The Wizard Base Black - Boot Only inline skates are aimed at users of Wizard Advanced frames. The characteristics of the Wizard Adavanced frames mean that the Wizard Base High variant is recommended for experienced and adavanced skaters providing an extended range of balance.
Do the Wizard Base/Base High differ from previous versions of Wizard skates?
If you have experienced the original model of Wizard skates based on the Seba UFS carbon shell, you will feel right at home! Since the Wizard Base skates have the same version of the dedicated Intuition 3M liner as the first models of Wizard skates, it is recommended to choose exactly the same size for optimal fitting. New users are advised to carefully check the size chart to find the right length for their foot.
For the Wizard Base High variant, you get the same shell but with additional material above the cuff. The total height difference between Base and Base High is about 3 cm.
Wizard Base Black High - Boot Only – worth knowing
According to Wizard project creator Leon Basin, our skates should fit much more snugly than our standard footwear.
For the best fit and overall skating experience with Wizard skates, your skates should fit as close as possible to your foot. Eliminating any foot movement inside the boot will result in efficient energy transfer, which will help maximize your control over larger wheels or longer frames, characteristic of Wizard skating.
Size selection for beginners
Toes should be very close to or lightly touching the end of the liner. For comfort, you can move your toes as long as the rest of the foot does not move inside the shell.
To minimize potential pressure points or discomfort, or to leave a bit more room for insoles or thicker socks, choose a size range closest to your foot measurement in CM or up to 0.5 cm longer. For most people, this will result in a skate fit about half a size smaller than the size of your everyday shoes.
Size selection for advanced and experienced skaters
Toes should touch the end of the liner, even with some pressure, as long as they are laid flat (not curled).
To optimize control and response speed of our skates, choose a size closest to your foot dimension in CM or up to 0.5 cm smaller. For most people, this will result in a skate fit about 1 size smaller than the size of your everyday shoes.
About manufacturer
Wizard – the already legendary brand from Canada. Trying to describe what Wizard frames are is like is like trying to describe something extraordinary. Words simply do not do them justice. Leon Basin, a Canadian shop owner and most likely one of the most innovative skaters on the planet, has created frames which sparked a whole new skating style.
The possibilities which they’ve opened up, coupled with Leon’s creativeness and superb (and sometimes hard to wrap one’s head around) style of Mushroom Blading duo have attracted quite a following worldwide. The emergent way of skating blends together elements of freeskating, aggressive, freestyle slalom, freestyle skiing and even BMX flatland.
Years have passed since first generation of Wizard frames came out and Leon has been tweaking his products ever since, also introducing new variants. Many imitators surfaced and even though they usually offer frames of great quality, too, they hardly innovate, simply copying Canadian brand ideas. It is obvious that Wizards are always one step ahead. Leon is constantly tinkering with new things and evolving both his products and style.
When it comes to frames themselves, they are CNC milled from solid aluminium blocks. These are expensive, there’s no hiding it, but virtually indestructible and will serve you for over a decade easily. Consider them a long period investment.
When it comes to a world of skating parts, it doesn’t really get any more premium than Wizard frames.
