Themskates is a hugely popular brand under the leadership of aggressive skate legend Jon Julio. Themskates is the essence of the world's aggressive skating - cultivating a true 'skate' lifestyle, it brings together the 'cream' of the most original and progressive skaters from around the globe such as Alex Broskow, Danny Beer, Soichiro Kanashima, Gave Drum, Sean Darst and Patrick Ridder.
The 909 skates are the brand's main product and the basis of all current Themskates skate models. A complete aggressive inline skating kit from a 100% independent brand - all parts designed from the ground up by Themskates.
Themskates 909 2023 - What's new?
Themskates 909 skate shell is a slim, compact design with an ergonomic shape and a minimally raised heel. Updated shell material. Harder / stronger to provide extra support and longer life.
- New shell sizes - currently the Themskates 909 skates are available in six different shell sizes! The latest addition is the long-awaited Shmedium size (corresponding to EU 42) and Not-So-XS (corresponding to EU 40). This allows us to adjust them even more precisely to the length of our feet.
- Them 909 cuffs with the adjustable position option further help in adjusting the skates to your own needs (High position - more support, useful for setups with large wheels or Low position - better flex, typical for aggressive skating).
- Unique Themskates buckles with a reduced weight and an engraved logo - a cosmetic, but very stylish accessory.
- Improved version of the soulplate 3.0. The width of the soulplate in the heel area has been significantly increased, which will be of great help to beginner skaters and allows for easier cess slides. In addition, the so-called "Bridge Hardware" has been introduced in the soulplate mount, thanks to which we can easily unscrew / replace them if necessary.
- Themskates V4 liner. The heel position has been shifted a bit back for greater stiffness. Wider tongue with more padding fills the shell better and provides even more comfort. It comes with additional reinforcement in the cuff area and a neoprene, stretchable toebox - in combination with the new shape of the shell, your toes will not be squeezed.
Themskates 909 provide friendly flat setup!
To complete the package, Them 909 skates are offered with Them Street frames - designed by Kyle Sola. Frames are made of injection-molded nylon filled with glass fiber. Shallow and small groove makes them great great for both flat and anti-rocker setups. Axles have with an asymmetric head - tightening requires only one allen key. The maximum wheel size in the flat setting is 58mm, but thanks to the wheel wells in soulplates, with the anti-rocker setting, we can use sizes up to 60mm in outer positions.
Themskates 58mm wheels of universal 90a hardness can be recommended for any type of surface; good grip on smooth, concrete skateparks and a long life during more rough street skating.
Themskates 909 2023 - Worth knowing!
The two new shells of the 909 also mean two new dedicated soulplate sizes. In addition, if we are switching from a Medium shell to a Shemedium shell, it is worth noting that, along with the new smaller shell, the size of our cuf size will also decrease. Below is a breakdown of the new shell sizes and compatible parts:
- Shell XS: Frame size S, Soulplate XS, cuff size S
- Shell NOT-SO-XS: Frame size S, Soulplate NOT-SO-XS, cuff size S
- Shell S: Frame size S, Soulplate S, cuff size S

About manufacturer
Them Skates is a brand created by aggressive inline skating legend, Jon Julio. He is the mastermind behind the marketing and team management of (now shelved) Valo brand which he ran for Roces. After over 15 years, Valo came to an end and he and Italian brand parted ways. Seeing that he basically lost a job that he dedicated his whole adult life to, Jon was at the crossroads. Led by responsibility towards his family, he almost took post office job. However, it was not meant to be – following his love for skating, he decided to have one last shot at creating a skating company, seeing that the he already has been involved in Themgoods (a softgoods company) and Youth frames projects, which were more of a side-jobs for him. Them Skates were born.
Even though the first product – Them 908 model – was nothing revolutionary: used old Sabotage molds (with a new soulplate, but still), had very basic liner and was available as boot only without an option for complete setup, it sold like a hotcakes. This success is thanks to Jon’s loyal fans and supporters from all over the world, a community that had his back and wanted him in the skating. The popularity of Them Skates allowed Jon to expand rapidly – within a time frame of just one year, he developed his proprietary boot mold in cooperation with Kyle Sola, one of the most prominent industrial designers in skating. The 909, as it is called, is notable for being the first boot mold created and fully owned by a company run solely by aggressive inline skaters. Soon, the company created their own frames. Nowadays, one of the most talented and influential skaters are associated with Them Skates and many more chose to ride their boots for what they represent for aggressive skating community as a whole.
