Bladerunner Igniter Ice - Black/Grey Ice Skates

Bladerunner is a brand of ice and inline skates owned by Rollerblade. The Italian company constantly improves their products in pursuit of staying on bleeding edge of quality and technology in inline skating. This doesn’t mean that their older solutions and designs are obsolete and discarded when new ones are introduced – quite the opposite, they are used to provide a more budget focused, entry level line of products targeted towards customers who do not care about gear being absolute top-tier as long as it serves its’ purpose. And this is what Bladerunner skates are – solid, reliable designs which in most cases, debuted in mainline Rollerblade range several years ago.

Igniter Ice and Igniter Ice W are ice skates made for purely recreational use. Thus, unlike specialized hockey or figurine ice skates, they are not designed to deliver top performance and lighting fast responsiveness – comfort takes the wheel here!

If you have a decent knowledge about inline skates, you may quickly spot similarities to older Rollerblade Spark boot. Indeed, the outer skeleton and base is the same design, upper looks similar, but that’s where similarities end. After all, you cannot simply grab an inline skating boot, swap frames for blades and sell it as an ice skate, don’t you? Inline skates are meant to be used in warm, dry weather, designed to expel moisture and heat, while letting air inside – especially the ones of recreational and fitness variety.

Designers of Igniter Ice skates are well aware of the fact that the same principles would make for a horrible experience in temperatures below zero degrees. This is why the boot is equipped with thick, insulating padding covered in velvet. The insole is also additionally padded. Thus, you can use these skates for long sessions in cold weather without any issues.

The boot closure is identical to inline skates’ counterparts. There’s a supportive plastic cuff tightened by a buckle, there’s usual 45 degree Velcro strap and speed lacing. Boot is comfortable and provides enough forward flex to make skating easy for newcomers, who are not used to more rigid, traditional ice skates.

Blade is profiled to be relatively flat, providing decent stability. Stainless steel ensures longevity and resistance to rusting.
