Winter is approaching, and with it comes the opportunity for activities on the nearby ice rink. The weather outside no longer encourages people to go out and enjoy inline skating, so naturally, many of us think about switching from Inline skates to ice skates. However, if you are not avid fan of ice skating and rather treat it as a recreational escape, then probably no hockey or figure skates are waiting in the closet for the season to start. What now?
Ice Skates – Buying VS Renting VS Skate Runners
There are several options. For the more determined, there's always the option to buy a new pair of ice skates, and for others – to use rental services. Recently, inline skating adapted runners have been appearing on the market, released under various brands. Some replace the entire frame, while others are mounted in place of the wheels.
This last solution is superb because the cost of purchasing such runners is relatively low. Their biggest advantage is that you can go to the ice rink in your comfortable, well-fitting, and foot-holding skate boot, rather than relying on the lottery called rental. Choosing runners thus becomes very advantageous, as it eliminates the risk of chafing and long break-in time that may accompany the purchase of new equipment. Rental is a roll of the dice when it comes to fit and condition of the boots, so why not use a boot that you are sure of and fits you well instead.
In terms of price to quality, for "Sunday skaters", it's an unbeatable offer. Buying new quality figure or hockey skates is still a considerable expense. Constant renting also incurs costs. Buying just the runners to mount in your favorite pair of rollerblades for the price of four medium-class wheels is a very sensible solution. Truth is, you won’t get a pair of decent hockey skates for the price of the Runners.
Powerslide Sabres – Ice Skates and Inline Skates 2 in 1
That's the price for the Sabers runners from Powerslide. It is a brand that has been popular among rollerblading enthusiasts for years. The Iceblade Sabres are a product that maintains this brand's high standards. Unlike wheels, runners don't wear out that quickly, right? They can be mounted to most flat frames. The runners are designed for 8mm axles, but there's an option to use them with 6mm axles using special spacers available here.
For production, the manufacturer used vanadium steel, which underwent additional thermal processing to increase its durability. Each runner is sharpened, so they are ready to use right out of the box. The blade width is a standard 3.5mm. We have three variants in several sizes here. Thanks to them, you can convert inline skates from popular manufacturers like K2, Rollerblade, Powerslide, Fila, Seba, FR, and others into figure or hockey skates. Whether they are fitness skates based on a soft boot or freeskate hard boot type. The condition here is the length of the frame, i.e., the distance between the first and last axle.
