Razors brand is one of the most recognizable companies in the aggressive skating community. A characteristic feature of Razors skates is their universal fit. Filled with thick liners, the shells are quite spacious, offering a specific 'feeling' of flexibility while providing great support for the ankles. It is no different in the case of Razors Genesys Junior skates - the company's offering for the youngest, as these aggressive skates cover for foot size in EU 36-39 size range.
It's not a toy!
An important advantage of the Razors Genesys Junior skates is great visual aspect and well-thought-out design. Any young skater will be happy to choose skates which look identical to the equipment of his older, favourite pros. One could say that it is a "shrunk" version of the popular Razors Genesys skates, retaining all their unique properties, in addition to the option of size adjustment. Thus, skates offer things like wide soulplate kit (for grinds) which can be replaced if necessary. Perfectly centered, deep Royal Groove lines up with the groove of the frame. An additional, thick shock-absorber for better shock absorption during landings is present, too. They truly come with all the advantages of a professional aggressive skate.
Another distinguishing feature of the Genesys Junior model is the fact that, despite the adjustable boot structure, they are still classified as 'hard' shells, the so-called 'hard-boot' skates. Both the front and rear part of the shell is mounted on a removable soulplate, giving a durable and, above all, rigid base - a big plus, often overlooked by the competition.
UFS compatibility
Just like in skates for adults, the Razors Genesys Junior models are fully compatible with the UFS mounting standard - we can choose any compatible frame from other brands. The set includes a hard and sturdy Ground Control Junior frame, which, depending on the version of the skate, has 4x 56mm diameter wheels (flat setting) or 2x 56mm / 2x 42mm grindwheels (Anti-rocker setting). A nice touch is the ability to change the position of the wheels in four directions thanks to the adjustable frame spacers. Axles are of 6 mm diameter, though - when replacing the bearings/wheels, remember to take out the original 6mm bearing spacers supplied in the set, as you’ll need them.
Size adjustment
The shell of the Razors Genesys Junior skates can be adapted to 4 sizes: EU 36-37-38-39 and the liner is about 23 CM long when fully extended. To adjust the size to the boot, use the Allen key included in the set to loosen the two UFS screws (connecting the frames with the skate shell) and then 'extend' the rear and front part of the shell to the required length. For ease of use, we can use the 'size indicator' on the soulplate itself. Once you have found the correct setting, re-tighten the UFS bolts and the skates will be ready to go.
Which version will be better for me?
If you have decided to buy the first skates for a kid, but the child has never skated before, we definitely recommend the Razors Genesys Junior in the flat setup version with 8 wheels. 8-wheel skates will be faster and, above all, more maneuverable. Beginners will be given noticeable increase in control, thanks to which learning to move freely will become more natural and will be incomparably more fun. However, if our child already does have experience with skating and wants to start performing their first tricks at the skatepark, we recommend the anti-rocker version. The version with two larger outer wheels (up to 57mm) will give us more space for grinding. Learning tricks will be much easier - thanks to the smaller (42mm), plastic inner wheels, giving the ability to grind any type of obstacle (rails, ledges, iron-angled ledges).
