Ennui Elite Helmets

Ennui brand is run by Powerslide and focuses on protection equipment and helmets. Germans started a new brand with the same goal, as always – to deliver excellent products and raise the quality bar in area of protection. Ennui is built on belief that no matter which sport you choose: skating, BMX, scooters, rollerskates, skateboarding or even more hardcore varieties like downhill, you deserve the same high level of protection to keep you safe.

Their products are made based on feedback of the best riders out there and are designed to keep you safe without restricting movement.

There is no better example of the brand’s philosophy than Elite helmets. Germans worked on them for three years and created one of the most structurally advanced helmet design on the market. When it comes to helmets, they are usually made using one of two manufacturing processes. First one is out-mold, where EPS shell is glued inside harder shell made out of ABS, for example. Such helmets are more affordable, but heavier. The second, more advanced one, is in-mold, where both EPS and outer shell (made out of PVC, for example) are injected into one mold. This method is more expensive, but results in lighter helmets.

Ennui Elite helmets are made using heavily modified version of the second process. It is called “over-injected honeycomb skeleton” and work like a reversed in-mold process. Honeycomb skeleton made out of EPS is over-injected with PVC. This results in better connection between the layers and allowed engineers to make EPS part more advanced structurally. Thus, helmet is super lightweight and with low volume. Of course, it complies with safety standards. Helmet includes replaceable peak piece for comfort, moisture absorption and protection from the sunlight.
