FR FRX Inline Skates

7 items

FR Skates FRX are true classic of urban skates. Their history goes way back to Seba days and even now a lot of skaters call the FR models by “Sebas” moniker. FRX were always a budget offering – the corners were cut in places where it doesn’t impact the skating experience too much. Thanks to that, FRX are great introduction to world of freeskating.

What was sacrificed to lower the price? Quality of life improvements, which are nice to have, but aren’t necessary for skating and it is possible to get by without them. Cuff canting system is gone, replaced by regular screws. Skates no longer have aluminium blocks for frame mounting, they use simpler two-point solution instead. The 45 degree buckle is now replaced by Velcro strap. The frames are simplest models in FR Skates catalogue but are still solid. Wheels and bearings are basic, but reliable.

Even taking all these cuts into consideration – the skates are still excellent. Someone who doesn’t know technical details won’t feel much of a difference between FRX and FR1 – apart from the fact that it is easier to tighten the boot with a buckle than with Velcro. That’s the whole point: to deliver a solid skate at low entry cost for newcomers, people with tight budget or those who are not yet sure if freeskating is for them and do not want to buy more expensive skates just to find out.

FRX are compatible with all FR spare parts. So potentially, if you really want to upgrade them with cuff canting – it is possible. Replacing Velcro with buckle is easy and quick. Maybe you want to change the looks of the skate? Custom kits are compatible. The only thing you cannot really get around is the frame mounting part – aluminum blocks are superior solution to regular two-point mounting after all. It makes replacing the frames trickier as you don’t have any level of front to back adjustment in the boot itself, but you still have a possibility to upgrade your ride this way, as the boot have 165 mm raised heel spacing. Just the most basic version of, that’s all.

The FRX are popular for a reason. They give you that premium feel for an affordable price. Hundreds of thousands skaters trusted these and we can recommend them without hesitation.
