Bearings
66 itemsBearings – little spinny things you cannot go without if you want to skate. We have bearings for every skating type out there and no matter how deep pockets you have. It is worth to know that not all skating varieties put the same strain and workload on bearings, and in turn, require differently tuned ones. For example, if you speedskate it is best to have bearings made as precisely as possible, rolling with minimal resistance and lubricated by light oil. Put such bearings in freeskates and take them to town, though – they’ll quickly catch dirt which will clog them and potentially damage rolling surfaces. You need ones with thicker grease, which protects the bearing parts better – there’s also no need for laser-precision of manufacturing and in fact, higher tolerances when it comes to fitting the parts won’t hurt. Aggressive inline skating is a whole different story – a resistance to impact and shock is critical factor. For off-road skating on SUV skates it is worth to grab rustproof bearings.
We are well aware that there are many people out there who recommend not buying dedicated skate bearings but go for machine bearings. In buckets, so you do not have to worry about cleaning and lubricating, but swap in new ones instead. This approach may work for those less demanding skaters who do not care about their experience that much or pushing their skating to its limits. If you want to get the most out of your skates, though, good, dedicated skate bearings are essential. Even if these are relatively low cost ABEC 5 ones with simple metal shields held by C-ring. They’ll give you a better roll, which means faster and smoother ride. The importance of bearings is even higher if you want to compete – in such case, really good ones are a must.
