Product Description

Kyle Sola has quickly gained a reputation of being one of the most talented, if not THE most talented industrial designers working in aggressive inline skating industry. The boot and frames of Them 909 skate are his works. He also has been involved in modernisation of Rollerblade Solo skate, streamlining it into current Rollerblade Blank model. In addition to participating in projects of other companies, Kyle also runs his own, called Sola Equipment. Thus far, it is focused on delivering some of the highest end frames on the market.

All Sola Equipment frames are made from a CNC-milled 6061-T6 aluminium extrusion profile, which is finally treated with a surface-hardening anodized finish. It is worth to note that Sola Equipment was the first brand to popularize skating a “raw” aluminium frame with replaceable H-block. This concept was later picked up by brands such as Kizer and IQON.

After runaway success of Sola UFS Street frames, the brand enters freeskating market. One must admit that unique style of frames creator shines through – bold lines, simple, but functional design and superior finish make these frames a treat for the eyes. We will go as far as saying that this is definitely the most elegant design among freeskating frames on the market. The most surprising aspect of these frames is that Kyle has found a way to implement lateral frame adjustment option, going around the UFS mounting system limitation. Truth to be told, it is only 2 mm to left or right, but seeing that majority of UFS do not have any room for adjustment at all, it is still something.

Thanks to the fact that frames are made out of aluminium and use one piece axles, their weight is really low and on top of that, their rigidity is excellent. It is really easy to skate fast on them, as the energy transfer on push is superb. The wheel spacing is tuned to make these frames optimal for urban skating and jumps on four 80 mm wheels per frame. Instead of having the usual 243 mm length, these are 250 mm long. This makes frame more stable without sacrificing any noticeable degree of agility.

Even though in times when rockered frames for larger wheels are gaining more and more popularity 4x80 mm flat setup may seem like old news, one cannot deny these frames their charm. The superb quality and finish make Sole Freeride UFS frames insanely good looking. Last but not least – sometimes all you need to have fun on skates is a reliable, proven wheel setup, like 4x80 mm. Kyle raises the bar once again, delivering a premium product in its category.

This concept was later picked up by brands such as Ground Control, Kizer and IQON.

Even though others copied Kyles ideas, they have not copied one outstanding thing about his designs - style. Kyle uses almost brutalism-like shapes and lines. They are symmetrical, often angular and have premium feel to them, while simultaneously looking "raw". This outstanding design is what makes Sola products so different from every other brand out there.
