Mesmer Skate Brand, the original project by Billy O'Neill — one of those who has been pushing the sport forward for the last two decades. Well recognized and respected street skater, who powered the ranks of leading teams such as USD and SSM. Creating his own skate brand is clearly a new way of contributing something to the new generation of bladers. Mesmer Skate Brand courageously enters the market with the product that was most likely doomed to success. The updated version of highly praised USD Classic Throne was carefully redesigned to meet all current trends and skaters' expectations. Mesmer skate shell comes with raised heel, lower cuff and the most anticipated one piece soul kit. Also, releasing the first product as a signature Pro model of a such big name like Jon Bolino simply could not go unnoticed and has been warmly welcomed by the blading community.
Classic Throne 2.0
The older skaters obviously remeber the struggle with the Classic Throne stock soul kits. The soul space of original version was quite small, and even when it was updated, the position of the royal groove was not matching the frame groove. Partial soulution was the option of modding the original soulplate with the Juice System by 50/50, popularized by Rachard Johnson and Demetrious George yet it required a lot of effort and constipation. One piece Mesmer soulplate fixes all previous issues and without a doubt is the greatest upgrade of classic Throne boot, which we have waited for way too long...
It is not a secret, that the strong point of Mesmer Skate Brand is the support of Matthias Knoll, his vast manufacturing experience and huge production facilities of Powerslide. Having such backing, the premiere skate of Mesmer brand was created with the use of the latest manufacturing technologies. For the very first time the skate shell is made of PEBAX (the unique mix of polyether and poliamid), which gives more flex, yet being very light and responsive. You can see the difference just by looking at the skate, not to mention skating it! The nice feature of PEBAX is the far greater resistance to temperature fluctuations, which can be very helpful for people skating during the winter days.
In the inner part of Mesmer's soul plate we can find a thick layer of rubber padding. It fills the extra gap between the shell and the soul plate, enhancing its visual aspect and exceedingly rounds out the skate feel in general. As a result, our Mesmer skates will be noticeably quieter. Somewhat a minor detail, but for many users of the earlier USD models, the persistent “clattering” skates were a major reason behind the switching to other producer. On top of that, another cool aspect of the Mesmer soulplate is for sure decorating its bootom side with the artwork of Chase Rushing (stylish skater artist from Road to Nowhere and The Meantime era). Bold idea, that for certain will open many new doors for future collaborations.
In terms of comfort and the fit, the Mesmer skate comes with very thick, seamless MyFit Slayer liners. Having double size range (39-40, 41-42, 43-44 etc.), equipped with memory foam material and a dual density insole with custom print. Such solution is again a nod to the supporters of the old school products like Jug or original Reign liners — aggressive skate liners with very dense padding. Spacey liners will completely fill the shell, yet they can also lower a size chart a little making it not 'true to the size'. That is why we strongly recommend getting familiar with the official size chart in order to pick up the correct ones.
Mesmer Skates is for skaters first!
As we can read in the official mission statement of Mesmer on their website — the brand's main aim is creating a skate which meets the most demanding expectations, the skate for the true and active skaters. Checking the premiere model more closely we can quickly notice how much attention Mesmer Brand pays to the details and how well everything is thought through. The stock skate is sold with eight wheeled flat setup. However, this time the wheel hardness was skilfully selected to facilitate grinding. The outer wheels have standard hardness of 90a while the middle ones are 95a. If you are a flat setup skater you are probably aware how hard it is to find the right wheel setup with same profile and size yet with different hardness. With Mesmer skates we receive the optimal flat setup straight out of the box that we can use immediately. Successive smart solution that distinguishes the product from the competition.
The second, important idea of Mesmer Skate Brand is providing its representatives with the right compensate for their work. Billy proudly boasts about high royalties payments for Mesmer pros and states that he will always continue to find ways to take care of his team. The “Pandora Box” of a pro rollerblader status was loudly opened by Jon Julio and Themskates almost two years ago. We are more than happy to see other brands taking their steps in the same direction!
Spare parts — build your Mesmer skates!
What else separates the Mesmer brand today? The icing on the cake is a complete range of available spare parts. Skate shells, cuffs, soul plates — all ready to grab since the very beginning! That's the way to go! We are usually used to late drops of spare parts for particular skates, but Mesmer changed the game. Availability of all needed skate parts lets you to create the Mesmer skate without the necessity of getting the full stock setup. So if you are not the fan of hard Kizer frames or maybe like to use your favourite after market liner brand, you can create your unique Mesmer setup easily! Each part set includes all necessary mounting hardware, so putting the skate together will be a breeze. All you will need to take care of is to screw the soul plates and cuffs with the shell, add the liner and a frame set of your choice and you are ready to go! As we suppose, the madness of customizing the Mesmer skates will start for good after the premiere of the next model, which will probably be available in a new colour scheme, giving many new possibilities.
