IQON Decode Pro frames

IQON Decode Pro frames

If you haven’t heard about IQON brand yet, it’s a nigh time to get yourself familiar with it! The company is revolutionizing freeskating in front of our eyes, bringing fresh ideas and excellent execution into a world of urban and wizard skating.

Innovative Decode frames have everything to become a smash hit and the true highlight is ability to set each frame with multiple wheel setup options. Up to this point, designers were limited by walls geometry when working on a new frame. To get around this, Decode frames walls are completely flat on the inner surface. If you wonder what about bearings bosses – there are none. To be more precise, there are no built-in ones. This means two things:

  1. Frames are meant to be used with Decode bearings. The inner bearing ring is extended to act as a spacer. This is important and we cannot stress this enough: if you want to use Decode frames, you MUST get a set of Decode bearings!

  2. With bearing bosses out of the way, designers didn’t need to worry about wheel urethane rubbing against them and were free to place axles wherever they wanted. This gives us many options of wheel setups in a single frame.

No one has ever created frames as versatile as Decode ones. Before we’ll get to technical details about possible wheel setups, lets explain what TR, AG and CL means in frames names:

The TR version

Made for Trinity mounting, so it will work with most of Powerslide skates. We highly recommend using freeskating boots, though!

The AG version

Made for skates with UFS mounting, so nowadays mostly aggressive inline models. But if you have a pair of older Salomon FSK or Rollerblade Fusion skates, do not hesitate to grab these!

The CL version

Made for skates which use ssm/v-type/165 mm spacing, two point mounting system for the frames. Comes highly recommended especially for owners of super responsive carbon skates.

There are three frame types in production currently:

  • Decode Pro 80

  • Decode Pro 90

  • Decode Pro 110

Each of them comes in three mounting varieties. Simple enough, so let us move on to setup info:

Decode Pro 80

The shortest of three frames, intended mostly for freeskaters who value agility and are used to classic 4x80 setup. It gives us four whee setup options:

  • 4x80 flat setup or with 1 mm banana rockering. The axles spacing is 243 mm.

  • 3x100 flat setup or with 1 mm rockering and second wheel in central position. 231 mm axles spacing.

  • 3x100 flat setup with second wheel placed more to the back. 231 mm axles spacing.

  • 80-64-64-80 flat setup or with 1 mm banana rockering. The axles spacing is 243 mm. This setup uses H-block (available separately) and allows you to perform grinds.

Decode Pro 90

A versatile frame for those who want to try a little bit of flowskating/wizard blading, but also a treat for 3x110 setup fans as well. Here are your options with this frame:

  • 4x90 flat setup or with 1 mm banana rockering. The axles spacing is 275 mm.

  • 3x110 flat setup or with 1 mm rockering and second wheel in central position. 229 mm and 253 mm axles spacing possible.

  • 3x110 flat setup with second wheel placed more to the back. 253 mm axles spacing.

  • 90-72-72-90 flat setup or with 1 mm banana rockering. The axles spacing is 275 mm. This setup uses H-block (available separately) and allows you to perform grinds.

Decode Pro 110

A full-fat wizard/flowskating frame and excellent choice for 3x125 mm setup, too. By far, this one is richest in options. Here they are:

  • 4x110 flat setup or with 1 mm banana rockering. The axles spacing is 335 mm.

  • 3x125 flat setup or with 1 mm rockering and second wheel in central position. 296 mm axles spacing.

  • 3x125 flat setup with second wheel placed more to the back. 296 mm axles spacing.

  • 84-80-80-80-84 with 1 mm “banana” rockering. Axles spacing is 335 mm.

  • 84-80-80-80-84 with 2 mm “V” rockering. Axles spacing is 335 mm.

  • 110-90-90-110 flat setup or with 1 mm banana rockering. The axles spacing is 335 mm. This setup uses H-block (available separately) and allows you to perform grinds.

There’s no point in describing where you need to put each wheel to achieve desired setup as it is pretty well explained in instructions packaged in the box along with the frames. But now you know what wheels to order alongside new frames!
