Chaya Chameleon High - Black Roller Skates

The Chaya brand is (relatively) a newcomer to rollerskate market but people behind it pack plenty of experience. It is a division of German company Powerslide, which has acquired multiple rollerskating talent from all over the world – this includes people who skate park and roller derby players. From the very beginning, the project is overseen by Kenneth Dedeu – a Powerslide’s creative director, photographer, designer, talented inline skater and rollerskater (he does have a cool nickname: Ragnaroll). As you can see, the foundations are solid (not just nickname) and coupled with company’s dedication to deliver best possible equipment, it has resulted in really solid line of rollerskates.

One of the brand new rollerskates in the 2022 collection are Chameleon High: standout rollerskates with stylish looks, perfect for dancing and jam sessions. It is a high cut boot, designed to allow for precise adjustment of ankle support, coming with high quality plate, trucks and other parts.

The skates have high cut boot, which is visibly more “high tech” in design than regular models of this cuff height. It is rigid, providing all the ankle support to the sides you could want. The top lacing and additional velcro strap allow you to adjust the amount of ankle freedom according to your preferences. However, even if you lace it tightly, the skate flexes very well to the front.

The ergonomic padding provide high level of comfort and lacing locks the heel in place well. The outer skin is made out of polyurethane and real leather and comes with replaceable Flap’n’strap System. Each box comes with extra three colours of flaps (red, blue and gold) allowing you to customise your skates.

Inside the boot resides a high performance MYFIT derby tech sole designed for great energy transfer, arch support and high level of comfort. Base of the boot is made out of rigid composite material reinforced with glass fibre and futher strenghthened with torsion bar for maximum energy transfer efficiency.

The plate is an absolute top-tier in industry. Chaya Zenya model is made out of 6061 series aircraft aluminium, which makes it lightweight, super durable and improves transfer of foot movements onto trucks. In addition, it comes with some Chaya-specific tweaks to regular plate formula, namely:

Power Toe System – front parts of both plate and the boot are slightly curved upwards, giving a better, more stable platform to “grip” with your toes, increasing level of control over skates.

Off-set Toe Stopper – the stopper position has been altered, placing it closer to big toe, where it feels more natural to use. It is easier to use it for pushing on start, using it as a brake and for stalls. It  is worth to note that Chameleon High do not come with regular stopper, having only a small placeholder instead – this is to prevent gripping the ground with the part during dance moves. You can still attach one, if you like, though.

Dual Center Mounting system – even though the plate itself can be mounted to any boot using traditional way, it also gives a possibility to use only two bolts to attach it to any Chaya boot compatible with this system.

Apart from that, we are getting high quality forged alimunium trucks. The cushions are made of 92A hardness PU, making the skate more rigid in feel and easier to control during dance moves. The 59 mm Chaya Drift wheels with 95A hardness urethane compound are super fast and roll very easily. The Wicked ABEC 9 bearings made out of carbon steel operate smoothly.
