Product Description

FR FR2 80 freeride inline skates

FR Skates focuses on solid freeride skates and high-end models for freestyle slalom. The FR series models have set technological standards for urban skating for over a decade and even today surpass most of the competition's models.

The b skate is created with cutting the cost in smart way, which has resulted in a product that is very close to FR1, apart from very minor differences, and as a nice bonus, have a frame that offers more options than one in its’ more expensive sibling.

Features of the FR FR2 80 freeskate inline skates

  • Rigid shell — made of durable material, with a range of conveniences that every user will appreciate. The shell itself is cut a bit more than usual for skates of this class, which increases comfort, especially for people with high arches.
  • 16 possible cuff position settings — the most adjustable cuff position system among all skates currently on the market. As many as 16 possible settings allow for solving problems with bending legs at the ankles, and also allow for selecting the right cuff height for the user.
  • Replaceable slider — or side protection of the shoe designed to minimize damage while sliding on wheels.
  • FR Liner — a comfortable, anatomically shaped liner with the option of lacing at the top, which allows for better foot retention. Under the liner, there is a shock absorber that increases riding comfort and jump landings.
  • Boot tightening —  composed of laces, plastic buckle on cuff and 45 degree ratchet buckle on shell.

Universal frame mounting system

Metal blocks embedded in the bottom of the boot at the frame mounting points. Above all, they allow for the adjustment of the frame position - each plate has 7 threaded holes for a screw. Furthermore, they stiffen the connection between the frame and the shoe, significantly contributing to the improvement of energy transfer to the wheels.

The spacing of the mounting points is 165 mm, and the shoes are compatible with most frame models in this standard - including three-wheel ones, which are easier to mount due to a special recess at the front plate, preventing the first wheel from rubbing against the shell.

R2 frames of 243 mm length

R2 frames, 243 mm in length, equipped with four Downtown 80 mm wheels with Twincam MW7 Freeride bearings. This makes FR2 a universal, reliable and agile setup which feels right at home in urban environment.

R2 frame comes with a rockering system – you can tilt outer axles upwards, creating full rocker (“banana”) which is a standard setup for freestyle slalom. It’s worth to note that the very same solution has been used in FR3 and FRX skates (although with lower quality X2R frames) but is absent from FR1. This makes FR2 the best FR model to offer this feature.

FR FR2 80 inline skates - Worth knowing!

Thanks to the fact that the 7 holes on each plate for mounting the frame give us more possibilities of spacing than 165 mm, the Endless brand has created a special, low-profile version of the Endless 110 frame dedicated to FR1/2/3 skates, using a 180 mm spacing! There is also absolutely no problem in fitting frames from other manufacturers to the boot.

FR2 80 are great mixture of versatility, proven design, quality and features, making them top choice for beginners and experienced skaters alike. In our opinion, there is no point in evaluating this skate as cheaper alternative to FR1 – the rockerable, high quality frame makes FR2 an interesting skate on its own. Yup, it comes with slightly less fancy wheels, bearings and top buckle – but that’s not a big trade-off when you consider the flexibility of setups the frame itself gives you. The fact that you can have it for less than flagship FR1 sweetens the deal.

About manufacturer

Other products of this producer FR

FR Skates is second brand created by freestyle slalom legend, Sebastien Laffargue. It branched off from Seba in second half of year 2016 and includes mostly the freeskating range of skates taken from the predecessor, namely the FR line of skates. However, Sebastien has decided to take some of high-end freestyle slalom skates under new brand, like the highly regarded Igor for example. Thus, FR Skates have become a flagship brand of its creator and can be considered an aggregation of best products and ideas released under Seba label up to year 2016. It doesn’t mean that lower price offerings haven’t made the cut – the extremely popular entry level FRX are still available!

FR Skates continues Seba legacy of quality, wide availability of parts and innovation. Sebastien and his pals have hands full of work and try to push the sport in to new directions with FR Skates. It’s worth to mention an innovative concept of 90-72-72-90 freestyle slalom frames or that they’ve delivered a wide range of UFS based freeskating frames. The brand even makes super light and extra stiff full carbon frames – of course, it’s not the first company to make frames out of this material, but the first to use the technology to make frames for cone slalom.

FR Skates brand gains momentum with every new product and is on the way to eclipse achievements of its precursor, Seba. They truly have something for every freeskating or freestyle slalom enthusiast – be it solid entry level skates for newcomers, models for those who demand a lot from the equipment, people who like unconventional hardware and those who prefer sticking with classic setups.
