Featherlite 4 are what one would call „best of - compilation” when it comes to Ground Control aggressive frames. The brand has been know for great designs in this space for years, but this time they have outdone themselves!
This new frame have solid construction similar to GC Mega frame, weights very close to earlier Featherlite models and have a replaceable H-block just like GC HD2 frames. As this is a street frame, the H-block itself is made out of plastic composite, but you can replace it with aluminum one – making the frame even better for skatepark copings and bowls!
In comparison to earlier FLT models, which were intended primarily for anti-rocker setups (yeah, if there’s a will, there’s a way, but you cannot deny the facts), Featherlite 4 are superb for riding flat. They fit 60 mm wheels, making for a fast and low-profile setup. The axles are the same ones as used in all plastic GC frames, featuring sickle head design on one side, meaning that you have to carry only one Allen key with you and still can tighten and swap wheels on the spot. The frame spacers are made out of aluminum – smooth roll is guaranteed.
There are three frame sizes to choose from:
- S – 247 mm
- M – 257 mm
- L – 270 mm
These give excellent compromise between stability and maneuverability, no matter your boot size. Furthermore, these lengths are exactly the same as GC HD2 60 mm. Seeing that both frames have the same groove, too, in reality FLT 4 is composite, more street oriented version of high-end aluminum frame and great, cheaper alternative to it if you are short on cash to buy the HD2 frames.

Even though Featherlite 4 is a newcomer to the market, it already is regarded as one of the best frames for riding flat. Yeah, Ground Control know what they are doing!

Ground Control frame company is one of the most important and influential brands in aggressive inline skating. It has been founded back in year 2000 by Jon Elliott – one of the most talented and achieving skaters at the time. He is a pretty tall and heavy guy and back in his pro blader days, he snapped frames like crazy. With a little bit of push from Andy (Razors skates owner and his sponsor at the time) he started on designing frames and in year 2001 the very first GC frames hit the market. At the time, they were revolutionary – first aftermarket UFS frames in the history, the innovative “sickle” axle design, super strong and symmetrical, meaning that you could get more out of them.
Ground Control develops and releases new products to this day, even though Jon is no longer a professional skater and tends to stay away form camera lenses. While they are still focused mostly on aggressive, they have also released some UFS frames for freeskating. GC frames are also in close relationship with Razors skates, seeing that Andy and Jon go way back, and come stock on them majority of the time.
