Playlife is a budget oriented brand of Powerslide, targeted at beginners and intermediate skaters who look for decent equipment at competitive price. German brand makes multiple types of gear under Playlife name, including ice skates. One of models on offer are Classic Kids – figurine type skates with clever adjustment mechanism.
Just like in case of other ice skates of this type, these are value oriented and made for recreation. Playlife Classic Kids are a great pick, seeing that children’s feet grow fast and thanks to size adjustment of the skates, they can last more than a single season. Perfect way to introduce young into ice skating.
Boot have vinyl base and outer skin, which make it water resistant and requiring very little maintenance compared to skates made out of natural leather. They are free of any animal derived materials! The boot is characterized by medium level of rigidity in upper area, providing good amount of ankle support without restricting movement. Lower part of the boot is softer to provide more comfort and better fit.
Classic style of high lacing boot guarantees tight fit and heel lock. The lace hooks used instead of top three pairs of eyelets make it easy to put skates on and tighten them. Inner padding is providing additional insulation.
The size adjustment mechanism is covered under the boot’s skin – the front part of the boot (toe cap) can be moved using a lever under the heel, making more room for toes. There are three size ranges to choose from: EU31-34, EU35-38 and EU39-42.
Skates have classic figurine style blade with teeth at the front. It is made out of stainless steel and pre-sharpened. We highly recommend taking the skates to sharpening service first, however, as it is made more for safety reasons – so no beginner would enter the ice in skates with “raw” blades, as it wouldn’t end well.
