Powerslide Swell - fitness skates for advanced users
Powerslide Swell have set a new benchmark in category of fitness skates. In times when sports equipment manufacturers must put emphasis not only on quality but also on aesthetics, Swell come forward to the expectations, offering durability, excellent performance and great looks which resemble running shoes design.
Composite shell with integrated liner
Powerslide Swell 100 model is built around a boot with integrated padding and stiff, composite shell.
- Great energy transfer and superior control - Glass fibre addition makes the shell stronger and gives it qualities which are not that widespread among fitness skates.
- Canting system - you can place the cuff a bit lower using canting system to have even greater range of movement. You can also use it to tilt the cuff to left or right, helping you mitigate any tendencies for pronation or supination, which may cause pressure points in the ankle area.
- High lacing, cuff buckle and a Velcro strap which prevents heel lift
All of this makes it hard to believe that these skates are designed for fitness skating. Indeed, Powerslide engineers have used the technology and experience developed and acquired while working on freeskates, to build the Swell boot.
3DAP Lining Technology
The upper is made out of durable, synthetic material which does excellent job at letting air in and moisture out of the skate.
- 3DAP inner padding - new, patented technology where instead of standard, pre-shaped foams glued together, it is a single cast made out of low density, resilient polyurethane. To allow for air flow and moisture removal, this cast have multiple little holes which are hidden beneath the outer skin.
- Pre-shaped boot tongue - made using the same technology and is not only but also comes which flex cuts, which allow it to bend to the shape of your foot in optimal way. These skates do not need break-in period – this revolutionary tech wraps around your foot perfectly the first time you put them on.
- Skates can be used with or without insole – a pair is included in the box. The boot closure consists of classic lacing and two really solid buckles with precise
Powerslide Swell 100 – for whom?
It can be even said that Swell fall in to a “fitness+” category as they are much more than skates made for cruising on park lanes. Skating in city environment, marathons, long distance, intense training – they can do it all. In every scenario, the anatomically shaped padding gives you maximum comfort. The skin of the boot allows for air flow and moisture to escape, while wrapping around your foot.
Versatility of the Trinity mount
- Trinity mounting - It is revolutionary, patented frame mounting system. It uses three mounting points, placing two front bolts on the sides of the wheels. Thanks to it, the centre of balance is as low as possible, as wheels can be placed closer to your foot. This makes skates easier to control. Moreover, three mounting points make energy transfer more efficient, which translates to faster skating with less effort.
- Full compatibility with whole Trinity frame range – if you will ever decide to try a different wheel setup, you won’t have to worry if the frame will fit your boot. You can even mount long speedskating frame and convert these skates in to “full fat” 3x125mm marathon model if you wish. Or go for smaller wheels, for example 4x80 setup in 243 mm frame and have slower, but more agile and easier to control skate.
Elite frame with 3x100 setup and dedicated length
In the Powerslide Swell 100, we find different frame lengths depending on the boot size.
- Size 38-42 - Elite 9.1" (231mm) frame
- Size 43-47 - Elite 9.8" (250mm) frame
This is important because it guarantees a stable base for push-off and a good compromise between maneuverability and speed for each user. In both cases, the frame has a low profile, so the distance from the foot to the wheels is as small as possible. It accommodates three 100 mm wheels, which is a great balance between low weight, speed, and acceleration.
Powerslide Swell 100 mm 83A HR - proven solution for urban skating, but thanks to their high-rebound urethane, they also perform great on tracks, allowing for really fast skating. Additionally, they wear down slowly. The whole is complemented by ABEC7 bearings from Wicked, providing smooth rolling.
Powerslide Swell 100 – worth knowing!
The set includes the HABS Brake size S/M
If you are bored with fitness skates that all look alike and are looking for something going further in terms of style, performance and versatility, Powerslide Swell 100 are skates for you.
About manufacturer
Powerslide is one of industry’s leaders even though it is relatively young company – it has been founded in year 1994. The Germany based brand has entered the market at height of inline skating’s popularity, at the time when market was flooded with low quality skates which could be described as toys rather than sport equipment. From the very beginning, Powerslide had one goal: to break the perception of inline skating being a leisure activity for kids and to promote it as a sport for everyone. That’s not a surprise considering that company’s owner, Matthias Knoll, is a skater himself. As speedskating contender, he breathes this sport and his love for it has been fuelling Powerslide for over 25 years.
If we were to describe Powerslide in three words, these would be: quality, variety and innovation. From the very beginning of company’s existence, Germans have challenged industry’s giants and competed with them in field of quality. Nowadays they are in lead of the pack when it comes to technology: heatmoldable liners and boots, compressed carbon shells, revolutionary Trinity mounting – these things are relatively fresh and competition is yet to respond. Looking back, Powerslide was the first company to introduce carbon freestyle skate with integrated padding. They were the first company to introduce carbon based aggressive skate. 125mm wheels were introduced to speedskating thanks to them. The introduction of Kizer Advance frame and then Level 2 made a big impact and lead to rapid evolution of aggressive flat frames. Germans were the first company to make triskates a significant part of their offering, starting a new trend. Nowadays, Powerslide are the only company that makes real off-road skates (not to be confused with off-road rollerskis).
This pursuit of change and improvement is unique – no other company in this industry is having a boss willing to take even the craziest of ideas and concepts to production stage. Powerslide also have, without a shadow of doubt, the richest catalogue of products among all skating companies; covering even the most niche equipment made for freestyle slalom, downhill and inline alpine. They have full range of accessories and parts: helmets, protection pads, wheels, bearings, frames and so on. The company is also making rollerskates, providing recreational, roller derby and skatepark models and equipment. It can be safely said that if Powerslide is not making something skating related, chances of other companies having it in their offer are slim to none.
Powerslide have an impressive brand portfolio: MyFit liners, Wicked bearings, Reign hockey skates, USD aggressive skates, Kizer frames, Undercover wheels, Matter wheels, Gawds boots, wheels and softgoods, Prime wheels, Juice rollerskates wheels, Chaya rollerskates, Ennui protection and many others.
What makes Powerslide special are company’s people and supporters who create a community around it. Germans support and cooperate with skaters all around the globe. International Powerslide Team is composed of names every inline skating fan should be familiar with and believe us - there are far too many to list them here.
