Product Description

The Rollerblade Twister Edge skates are, as their name suggests, a successor to cult classic Twister skates. These are some big shoes to fill, considering that original Twisters were flagship freeskates of Italian brand for almost 15 years and literally sold millions of pairs.

Thankfully, Twister Edge live up to their name, delivering a skate that’s not a mere replacement, but an upgrade in literally every area. The shell, cuff, liner, buckles, frames – everything has been designed from scratch. These are one of the most visually striking skates on the market, thanks to their brutalist, angular design, which makes them blend perfectly in to urban environment. The Twister Edge W has been given a more stylish, feminine colourway, but apart from aesthetics, they are the same skates as regular Twister Edge.

The boot itself is stiffer and gives much better ankle support than old Twisters. Cuff has been shaped to give anatomically correct fit. Furthermore, Rollerblade equipped Twister Edge with metal plates embedded in frame mounting points. As a result, the connection is super solid and give you much better energy transfer. This effect is amplified by Anti Torsion Box, which is a hole underneath central part of the foot, framed with 3D structure, giving the whole shell more rigidity. The shell also accommodates a shock absorber under the heel.

Inside the shell resides a High Performance liner. It has been designed to lock the heel in place and provide high level of comfort. It comes with a good insole with arch support. Boot closure is made of lacing and two strong buckles, made for Twister Edge from scratch. Lower one comes with strap shaped in a way that protects buckle mechanism from damage during falls.

The frames do not disappoint. Well-made, strong and rigid, they will withstand even hardcore urban skating. They measure 243 mm, a smallest length for 4 x 80 mm wheel setup. This is what one can consider a bread and butter of freeskating and has been de facto the default option in this style for almost two decades. A great compromise between speed, agility, low height and stability.

Wheels used in W version of the skate are no pushovers – Rollerblade Supreme are a very solid choice from medium price bracket, long-lasting and durable. You don’t have to worry if they will be up to the task of ripping the streets and landing high jumps. They spin thanks to ILQ-7 Plus bearings made by famous bearing company Twincam.

Twister Edge W are superb choice for urban skating and one of the best skates in their category. Furthermore, the cuts when compared to more expensive Twister Edge X version are marginal and cannot really be described as compromises, seeing that even most simple model of the skate can go toe to toe with best freeskates made by competition.
